Last Monday, May 3, the Bismarck Special Olympics team, coached by Laura Gillam and assisted by Jackie Hartley, took a team down to the Southeast Area Special Olympics Regional Competition in Cape Girardeau, MO.  The group from Bismarck was all comprised of elementary school aged athletes.  The Bismarck students competed in the 50-yard dash, 100-yard dash, softball distance throw, run and jump, and stand and jump events.  If you ever get a chance to attend a local event, it is time well spent.  There was such a positive environment that surrounded all the athletes during this friendly competition.  Congratulations to all the athletes from Bismarck and all local participating schools who competed as well.  North County High School will be hosting a local Special Olympics track and field event tomorrow, May 11th, in which Bismarck will also in competition.
