From time to time, Bismarck alumni will come back to their old stomping grounds to help impart wisdom and knowledge to the next generation. Today, EMT Becky Miller came into the school to share some of her occupational skills with the JH/HS students. Mrs. Miller has worked for the St. Francois County Ambulance District as an Emergency Medical Technician for 12 years. Before that, she served as a combat medic in the armed forces.
The students had a chance to see the newest rig in the SFCAD fleet. Becky shared what her responsibilities are in the ambulance and demonstrated how the equipment was used. You can see Ms. Helms in the demonstration testing a multi-floor wheelchair. Sixth-grader Savannah Dolan tests out the spine board stretcher as Becky Miller buckles her in. Overall, today was very informative and provided for some unique, hands-on learning. Thank you Becky for coming in to be our guest speaker today!
