Bismarck Athletes of the Week for 10/05-10/10

The Bismarck R-5 Athletes of the Week for this week are as follows:

Hunter Dugal – Varsity Baseball

Jada Dickey – HS Volleyball

Daven Miller – HS Cross Country

Jed River – JH Cross Country

Aubrey Smith – JH Volleyball

Here is what their coaches had to say about their efforts and what they mean to the team.

Coach Chris Hayes – “He has had a great season at the plate and really worked hard to improve his play at first base.  Hunter is hard working and a team leader.”

Coach Madison Dugal – “I would like to nominate junior varsity player, Jada Dickey, for Athlete of the Week. Jada is always a standout for our team. She is a hard worker, displays a positive attitude and takes a leadership role on the court. Most recently Jada has stepped up in a big way for our varsity team. She was literally thrown into a situation last minute and whoa, did she show up! Jada’s front row, as well as back row play, made it hard for anyone to recognize her as a j.v. player. I cannot tell you how proud this made me being her coach. From her louder than life personality to her never say die attitude, Jada is highly deserving of this honor on a regular basis but even more so as she tackled and killed her Bismarck Varsity debut.  Watch out for this girl in the future. Congratulations, Ms. Jada!! Keep up the hard work!”

Coach Colin Eaton – “In his first year running, Jed Rider is using the cross country season to improve his chances in other sports.  Rider is getting stronger and understanding the distance and racing strategy.  His coaches are looking for improvements in Jed’s times.”

Coach Todd Varhalla – “Daven Miller continues to lower his time every week.  He ran a PR (personal record) 20:45 at the Bismarck Invitational.  Miller often finds himself in a varsity race where it can be tougher.”

Coach Tori Henson –  “Aubrey is a quiet, timid girl but has worked very hard to improve and step up.  She is also a good teammate and is always willing to help others out when needed.”
