Fun with School Resource Officer Scott LaHay

Over the past few weeks, School Resource Officer LaHay has been getting the kids involved around the school with some fun activities.

On Friday, September 28th, Officer LaHay hosted an event with Deputy Glore where they brought out a drug-sniffing dog. (See link and attached video)

All students were able to get up-close and personal with the police dog.  The dog handler, Officer Glore, was speaking with the students on the dog’s history and how it was trained.  Officer LaHay served as the perpetrator for a couple of exercises even when it involved him being tackled to the ground.

Another event organized by Officer LaHay was on October 3rd.  It was national coffee with a cop day.  However, Officer LaHay modified the event slightly to do “Cookie with a Cop” for the elementary kids.  For the junior high and high school students, he passed out cocoa.

Tonight (10/12), he is hosting a Hunters Education Course for the students of Bismarck.  This is the first ever course taught by an SRO in this area.

As you can see, Officer LaHay is sure making a big difference around our school and community!  We definitely appreciate his presence as one of our newest faculty members.
