New Bismarck Faculty for 18-19: D.J. Hardy

By: Connor Sullivan

Over the summer, Bismarck added a new staff member to the math department.  D.J. Hardy is an alumnus of Farmington High School.  This is his first year teaching.  He will be handling the mathematics instruction for grades 6-8.  Mr. Hardy is also coaching high school basketball alongside head coach Colin Eaton.  The school publications class decided to ask Mr. Hardy a few questions to get to know him better.

How did you get into education? Why did you choose math as your area of emphasis?

“I have always liked kids and I want to help kids become better citizens so the world becomes a better place. I chose math because it is a high demand area and math relates to the way that I think.”

What is your sports background?

“I played basketball, track, and football for Farmington. I went to the final four in basketball in 2014 and played college basketball for Missouri Baptist University.”

What brought you to Bismarck?

“Coach Eaton wanted me to help coach basketball here.  I also needed a first-year teaching job.”

What are your hobbies?

“I like to golf and workout.  I also like to play video games like NBA2K and Modern Warfare 2.  When I get some free time, I still like to play basketball.”
